Grow in Your Understanding of Jesus

All scripture is inspired by God and is useful for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness, so that everyone who belongs to God may be proficient, equipped for every good work.  2Tim. 3:16-17

St. Jerome warned, "To be ignorant of the Scripture is to be ignorant of Christ." If you want to grow in your faith of who Jesus is and what it means to follow Him as a Catholic, pick up your Bible! Open it up and begin to read, study, and pray.

The Bible is the inspired word of God. It offers comfort, encouragement, and spiritual strength; it shows us how God interacts in the lives of people. Most of all, the Bible is the story of God's love for us.

Pope John Paul II assured us, "Learning to read Sacred Scripture is fundamental for the believer: it is the first step of a ladder, which continues with meditation and thus, with real prayer. Prayer based on biblical reading is the principal way of Christian spirituality. Those who can dedicate the necessary time and commitment to it, gather abundant fruits."

Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceeds from the mouth of God.  Matthew 4:44

Adventures in Matthew: The King and His Kingdom

Building directly on the foundation laid in The Great Adventure Bible

Timeline, Adventures in Matthew: The King and His Kingdom, focuses on Jesus as the fulfillment of the promises of the Old Testament. It also touches on Jesus' establishment of the Church as the Kingdom of Heaven on earth. Set in the rich context of Christ's Jewish culture, this study helps us to understand the universal truths of the Kingdom of God; and it will help you to understand more fully God's will for each of us today.

*Begins: Tuesday morning, September 18, 8-10, at St John’s Church or Thursday evening, September 29, 7-9, at St. Johns Ed Center.

Adventures in Acts: Foundations of the Church and Spread of the Kingdom

Continue on the journey with the 20-part study of the Acts of the Apostles and discover the story of the earliest days of the Church. Then see how Christ's work continues through each of us in the Church today. Here's where you "find yourself in the Story" that you learned in The Bible Timeline. This study will show how the letters of the New Testament fit into the narrative told in Acts providing continuity between the writings of Peter, Paul and the other Apostles.

*Begins: Monday evening, September 17, 7-9 at St. Johns Ed Center

New this year!  A Quick Journey Through the Bible

This is an 8-Part introduction to The Bible Timeline learning system. Students will learn about the spiritual benefits of Bible study, and how to enter deeper into "His-story" as they begin their study of the Scriptures. This study is an excellent introduction to the full, 24-Part Bible Timeline study, and offers a compelling overview of God's plan of salvation.
