SCHOLARSHIP

All activities promoted through the work of your committee should be helping to carry out the NCCW Mission Statement

The aim of the Scholarship Committee is to provide financial assistance for persons who work in various parish ministries to enable them to attend workshops, classes, and programs.

General Duties:

• Know the NCCW Mission Statement.

• Attend your local meetings and give a report about your commission.

• Spend time in prayer and encourage others to pray daily.

• Attend training by the NUDCCW Board and Leadership Team when offered, Region CCW Gatherings and the Diocesan CCW Convention.

• Communicate and keep in touch with your region and diocesan commission chairs. Use them as resources to help you carry out your tasks.

• Complete the year-end report for your commission at a meeting with all other parish commission coordinators.

Specific or Traditional Activities:

1. Publicize the Scholarship program in the parish using the materials sent by the diocesan and region coordinators.

2. Announce the information at a parish CCW meeting and distribute the applications at that meeting.

3. Determine with the parish CCW president and others how your parish will raise money to donate to this program.

4. Invite any recipients to come to a CCW meeting to tell about the benefits of the scholarship program.

5. Promote prayer and Mass petitions in your parish for the respect of human life from conception to natural death.

Other Possible Activities:

1. Work with or chair the committee designated to chair the scholarship fund-raising event.

2. Suggest to members of your parish that they might apply for a scholarship.

REVERENCE LIFE

All life is a gift from God. The Reverence Life Committee has as its aim to recognize and pr8ect all life from conception until natural death. Through this committee, we are encouraged to pray that all people will hold life as a precious gift from God. Helping people to become informed—knowing what is happening in our world concerning the reverence of life and then encouraging people to act—showing our stand for life by our actions and support.

1. Plan and promote Respect Life Sunday in your parish (first Sunday in October).

2. Promote and participate in the annual March for Life on the Jan. 22 Roe vs. Wade commemoration if possible.

3. Investigate the locations of Crisis Pregnancy Centers, Birthright Offices, Women Shelters and other pro-life organizations in your area and see what support your parish women can give.

4. Inform your parish women of Natural Family Planning classes that are offered in the diocese.

5. Promote prayer and Mass petitions in your parish for the respect of human life from conception to natural death.

Other Possible Activities:

1. Be aware of the current legislative issues relating to the dignity of life and keep the women informed in your parish.

2. Promote citizens’ awareness of issues facing the aging and programs available to them to maintain quality of life as they age.
