during the month of March at the Ed Center.
**A Biblical Walk through the Mass Study
This study takes you on a Scriptural tour
through the prayers, hymns and rituals of the liturgy. Practically
every part of the Mass finds its inspiration from Scripture.
Therefore, the more we understand the biblical background to the
Kyrie, the Gloria and other prayers in the Mass, the more we will be
able to enter into all that we say and do in the Mass.
This study moves from studying particular books
and sections of the Bible to studying the Scriptural roots of the
liturgy. After providing a general overview of the Mass, (based on
the new translation that begins the first Sunday of Advent 2011).
This study devotes a lesson to each of the major sections of the
Mass, (i.e., the Introductory Rites, The Liturgy of the Word, the
Liturgy of the Eucharist and the Concluding Rites). Readings from
the Bible and Catechism of the Catholic Church draw you into the
meaning and background of the prayers and other elements of the
Mass.
In this 5 week study participants begin with
home preparation; reading a portion of the book and certain prayers
of the Mass before delving into the Scriptures answering questions
in the workbook. Class time pairs group discussion and a 30 minutes
DVD) talk that reviews and explains the material and goes deeper
into the meaning of the Mass for us.
Sessions: Tues. evenings starting Feb 28th, 6:30pm at the St.
John’s.
$22 includes book, A Biblical Walk Through the
