Plans for the Capital Campaign

The final goal for St John’s Parish is $ 176,000 over a three year period.  $88,000 of that collection will be returned to the parish for our local needs.

Many of you are already aware of some of the needs of the parish.  The Education Center is nearing the 20 year mark and is in need of major repairs.  We have already replaced one heating and cooling system while there are 4 more to be replaced.  Normal service life on the units originally installed has been determined to be 10 to 15 years.  The carpet throughout the gathering area has been showing wear for several years.  Replacement has been deferred because it has not been “critical”.  Several years ago the parking area was blacktopped through the generosity of a parishioner.  It is in need of patching and sealing.  Finally, the roof is nearing the end of its useful life and needs new shingles.  These are necessary repairs that must be made in the short term future to protect our investment in the Ed Center.  The costs will be borne by the parish either through this appeal or future appeals within the parish.  The total cost of these repairs may be near $60,000.

The church is the center of the parish.  It serves us well and has been fairly well maintained.  Two major projects in the church would be renovating the kitchen and updating the flooring in the lower level.  Costs for just these two projects could total over $30,000.

A major short coming of the church is handicapped accessibility to both the church proper and the lower level which is our main gathering area.  Some of the funds could be used for planning for the future and how we may address this critical need.  These things just were not considered when the church was built 60 plus years ago.

Many important items are covered in the information packet which has mailed to you.  Please review it carefully. If you have any questions please call the parish office at 320-275-2915 or 320-693-9496.
